Signs are all around us, but contrary to popular belief, people don’t actually tune them out. They see and remember business signs, and when needed, act on them. Outdoor signage in the form of banners, car wrap advertising, business signage, and neon signs grab the passerby’s attention and is one of the one of the most cost-effective and striking forms of advertising.
Location matters, but it must be announced
Location is important but people have to know that your business exists at that location. Without a sign displayed, as many as 35% of people wouldn’t know that your business was at its location. And a full 50% of new customers are attracted to a business by the signs on or outside its premises.
For brick and mortar businesses and stores, around 85% of your customers live within a five miles radius. A sign is one of the most consistent ways to attract customers and to keep them coming. And when it comes to signs, digital is better. In fact, businesses with digital signs on average record 30% higher sales than those with more traditional signage.
Who looks at signs?
Customers see and respond to signs all the time. As many as 37% of consumers say that they look at an outdoor sign almost every time they pass one. And an IBM study found that up to 72% of consumers will act on an interactive message if they are within sight of the related retail location.
How much does it cost?
Business signs onsite are a very cost-effective form of advertising, with a redesigned business sign costing only $0.02 per 1000 views. These signs reach more of your overall market than any other type of advertising.
Costs vary by the size, material, color, and content of the sign. These begin at $8 for a small sign, which would be 12″ by 6″ with a basic design. A large 30″ by 30″ sign with more features could cost up to $100. When it comes to types of signs, there is a wide variety available, including:
- Banners
- Business signage
- Business window graphics
- Car wraps
- Creative sign designs
- Lighted business signs
- Neon signs
- Real estate signs
- Trade show displays
- Car wrap advertising
- Window lettering
So while online advertising is also important, it doesn’t do to forget more traditional forms like signs, to let people know about your products and services.
